ABOUT US

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched on September 24, 1969, during the Gandhi Centenary Year. It provides students with opportunities to participate in community-oriented activities and contribute to social welfare. From its inception, students from Universities, colleges and in some cases of higher secondary have benefited from the NSS activities as volunteers. 
The NSS unit of the college is functioning since 2004 and now it has 2 units. During the year, a variety of lectures, workshops, programs on various occasions and special residential camp organised to understand the social responsibility and inculcate the motto “Not Me but You” within Volunteers.

The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. NSS Cell of the college provide platforms to the students for social service. The cardinal principle of the National Service Scheme (NSS) is to promote the active participation of students and teachers in community service through their collective efforts. The programme aims to develop a sense of social responsibility and encourage students to contribute meaningfully to national development.

2)   Special Residential Camp
             The Special Residential Camp is an important component of NSS. It provides volunteers with an opportunity to stay and work in a selected village or community and understand its social, economic, educational, and environmental needs.
During the camp, volunteers promote teamwork, self-discipline, leadership, and a spirit of service. Various activities conducted during the camp:  
       A)	Land Reform.
       B)	Non-Formal Education.
       C)	Environmental Improvement.
       D)	Afforestation.                                                                             
       E)	Tree Planation.                                                                                     
       F)	Economic Development.                                                                                       
       G)	Family & Child Care.

Aim

Development of the personality of students through community service

Objective

1.	To understand the community in which students work.
2.	To understand themselves in relation to their community.
3.	To identify the needs and problems of the community and contribute to their solution.
4.	To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.
5.	To apply their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.               
6.    To develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.                                 
7.	To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes. 
8.	To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.                                                                   
9.	To promote the values of service, cooperation, and mutual respect.       
10.	To practise national integration and social harmony.
