ABOUT LIBRARY
A college is incomplete without a well-equipped library. The library is integral to any educational institution, supporting students in their academic pursuits with a wide collection of books and other learning resources. Every student is encouraged to develop the habit of visiting the library regularly. To promote this habit, one lecture period has been allotted as a compulsory Library Hour in the college timetable.
The College Library was established in 2000 and serves both students and staff members. It plays an important role in supporting the academic activities of the college. The library provides access to more than 6,145 printed books, 10,622 e-books, over 15,000 online journals, and national journals.
The Central Library consists of a Stack Section, Periodicals Section, Reference Section, and Reading Hall. Students have open access to all sections of the library and are encouraged to make the best use of the available resources.
The library uses KOHA Library Management Software, which includes modules for acquisition, cataloging, circulation, and the Web Online Public Access Catalogue (Web OPAC). The library uses a barcode-based circulation system for efficient book issue and return.
The library follows an open-access system that provides students with access to books, periodicals, magazines, bound journals, and educational CDs covering a wide range of subjects. In addition to books related to the subjects taught in the college, the library provides resources on various other disciplines to encourage independent learning and broaden students' knowledge.
The library also provides newspapers, magazines, and journals such as CSR, University News, the International Journal of Computing and Digital Systems, and ICTACT journals on Soft Computing, among others. Project reports are also available for reference, helping students in their academic assignments and research.
To familiarise students with the library's resources and services, the librarian visits classrooms and delivers introductory lectures. These sessions provide students with first-hand information about the library facilities and the resources available to them. They also encourage students to develop an interest in reading, cultivate curiosity, and use the library for their academic and personal development.
